I.M.P. Group Limited Aerospace Division located at the Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport and Canada’s largest Military Maritime Patrol Aircraft Support Contractor engaged in repair, overhaul, modifications, engineering and technical publications, invites applications for the position of:
Human Resources Generalist
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist’s primary focus is the coordination of services and activities related to recruitment and selection. Other areas of involvement include labour and employee relations. The Human Resources Generalist also provides general consulting services to all levels of employees on a variety of human resources related issues.
Job Description/Specified Requirements
- Respond to employee inquires regarding all HR and Corporate policies, procedures, programs and collective agreements.
- Communicate with management to identify resource needs, job specifications, job duties, qualifications and skills as it pertains to recruitment.
- Develop and maintain network of contacts to help identify and source qualified candidates
- Utilize Internet online recruiting sources to identify and recruit candidates
- Review resumes, screen candidates, and initiate contact with possible qualified candidates
- Interview applicants to obtain work history, education, training, job skills and salary requirements and to provide information about the organization and position
- Conduct reference checks and other background checks as necessary
- Provide input into the offer development process and negotiate offers with prospective candidates
- Conduct exit interviews and report on trends
- Assist with developing, implementing, maintaining and interpreting policies, procedures, programs and collective agreements in order to ensure effective delivery of human resource services.
- Perform other projects as directed.
Qualifications
- Post secondary education in Human Resources Management or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years HR related experience
- Familiar with aspects of Internet recruiting and online/web-based candidate tracking tools
- Solid understanding of behavioral interviewing concepts
- Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices including human rights and employment equity legislation. Familiarity with Canadian immigration process is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and handle stressful situations in a fast paced, diverse environment
- Ability to take initiative and follow through with projects and meet deadlines
- Strong working knowledge of all required MS Office software
- The ideal candidate is a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or CHRP candidate
- Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances
