Position Summary:
The Ward Clerk performs a variety of reception and clerical duties required for the efficient operation of the unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: utilization of BirthNet and Meditech data entry on all patients, including admission, transfer and discharge; ordering of lab specimens; ordering and maintaining supplies; transport functions; answering phones; assembling discharge and assessment charts.
Shifts: Days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Qualifications:
Core Competencies/Qualifications Required for this Position:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
- Demonstrated accurate keyboarding and data entry skills required. Testing will be conducted on short-listed candidates and results will be factored into the candidate’s overall suitability for this position.
- Demonstrated initiative, excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task required.
- Demonstrated team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to work with a wide variety of interdisciplinary team members and families.
Preferred Competencies/Qualifications for this Position:
- Completion of a recognized Secretarial or Office Administration Diploma Program preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role (patient registration) preferred.
- Knowledge of Meditech preferred.
- Previous experience using BirthNet preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred.
Salary: $16.5804 - $18.0827/Hour
