3-6 Month Contract Position

Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc. (PHSI) is one of Canada’s leading, privately-owned hotel management companies with a portfolio of 59 hotels totaling more than 3,700 hotel rooms and suites throughout Canada and the United States. We manage some of the most recognized brands in the industry including; Holiday Inn Express, Radisson Suites, Hampton Inn, Crowne Plaza, Embassy, Wingate Inn and Super 8.

The Hotel Accountant is responsible for all financial aspects of several hotels. Specific duties include preparation of the monthly financial statements, maintenance of the hotel’s general ledger and to be a business partner to the Hotel General Manager (Hotel GM).

Basic Responsibilities:

Responsible for the set-up and management of the accounting system for several limited service hotels across Canada. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow), in accordance with established standards, within 5 business days of month end.
  • Conducting month end reviews with the Hotel GM and liaising with Management, Owners and Head Office staff regarding accounting related issues.
  • Preparation of, in consultation with the Hotel GM, monthly variance report for each hotel.
  • Assisting the Hotel GM with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Creation of the chart of accounts, banking and vendor accounts, and financial statements using Accpac for Windows
  • Preparing Bank reconciliations and maintaining the General Ledger
  • Performing accounts payable functions, including ensuring invoices are paid according to established standards.
  • Provide the Hotel GM with a regular listing of current accounts payable and accruals to ensure all purchase orders are in payable system.
  • Ensure all provincial and federal taxes are remitted and reports filed on time.
  • Providing financial analysis to the Hotel GM and Senior Company Management as requested on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Complete working paper file in accordance with established standards to support balance sheet and income statement accounts for month end review by accounting managers.
  • Preparation of year end review file in accordance with established standards.

Skills, Abilities and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year full cycle accounting experience
  • University degree, major in accounting or finance considered an asset
  • Proficient in Excel and Microsoft word., knowledge of ACCPAC considered an asset
  • Exceptional analytical ability, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and complete multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and also collaborate with others effectively.
  • High degree of integrity and ethics.
