Title: Financial Analyst, Atlantic Area
Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager, Atlantic Area

General:
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for providing Financial Planning, Analysis and Commentary support on a scheduled and ad-hoc basis for the Atlantic Area. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the administration of the financial systems and controls for the Nova Scotia Region.
Responsibilities:
- Review month end actuals, year-end actuals, latest estimates financial plans and budgets and produce appropriate commentary and analysis.
- Assist the Regional Directors and Development Director in providing information for better decision-making and achievement of the Association goals and objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and support in the planning process as directed by the Finance Manager.
- Maintain financial policies and controls for the Nova Scotia Region.
- Prepare perpetual inventory reports.
- Monitor compliance to established policies and procedures as well as the safeguarding assets of association.
- Responsible for ensuring that monthly financial statements and reports for the Nova Scotia Diabetes Supply Centres are produced on an accurate basis and ensuring all month end procedures are performed.
- Prepare and submit general journal entries and financial reconciliations.
- Act as a first point of contact for Atlantic Area system users and national IT Department.
- Administer information system policies and controls for Office users.
- Conduct routine entry-level network services inclusive of daily backup, workstation software upgrades as part of Information System initiated projects.
- Additional duties as required ensuring the effective operation of the CDA financial function.
Skills Required:
- 2-3 years financial statement preparation and analysis experience, preferably within a multi-level organization
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral) including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of financial expertise
- Strong computer skills using a number of accounting and financial planning software packages
- Microsoft Office experience
- Ability to work within a "hands on" accounting environment
- Well organized
- Ability to take the initiative to identify financial issues, recommend and implement solutions
- Able to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision
- Able to handle high volumes and multiple priorities in a professional, courteous manner while meeting strict deadlines
Education:
- Undergraduate Degree, candidates pursuing CMA/CGA Professional Accounting Designation (CGA/CMA) are preferred.
