Clearwater Seafoods Limited Partnership is recognized for its consistent quality, wide diversity and reliable delivery of premium seafood, including scallops, lobster, Arctic surf clams, cold water shrimp, Argentine scallops, crab and groundfish.

The company is looking for a Clam Fleet Controller for a 15-month term position to join our Fleet Operations in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Given the size of Clearwater and its fleet operations it is possible that this position could lead to a full-time position within the company.
The position reports to the Fleet Controller and is responsible for managing and leading the clam fleet finance team. The person filling this role must have strong leadership skills, superior written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational and interpersonal skill, the ability to deal with senior management and to coach and mentor staff as well as background in corporate finance and financial reporting. This position plays a key role in the fleet finance management team, of Clearwater and as such, above average communication skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Leading, directing and implementing effective cost accounting policies, procedures and analysis including cost control, decision support and reporting standardization.
- Taking an active role in leading initiatives to reduce fleet costs/increase efficiency.
- Internal controls, the security of assets and accurate, timely financial reporting to meet the needs of all stakeholders.
- Managing fleet procurement/accounts payable
- Providing day-to-day analytical support for clam fleet management.
- Leading the clam fleet finance department in the production of relevant and timely financial information.
- Improving communication and taking part in initiatives to share information between operations, fleet, sales and finance.
- Participating in short-term and long-term strategic planning initiates as requested;
- Participating in special projects within the Fleet Finance Function.
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Post secondary education in the field of Accounting or Business Administration
- A minimum of five years progressive experience;
- Accounting designation;
- Solid background in financial reporting and analysis;
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to meet strict and constant deadlines;
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word;
- Experience with Great Plains would be an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills including ability to work with non-financial personnel;
- Experience leading and working in a team environment with the desire to seek continuous improvement;
- Some travel is required.
