Software Designer

Looking for a career opportunity that may not be the typical accounting position?

Software Designers apply their knowledge of professional accounting practices and business process concepts to the design of the Cogsdale solution. Designers work with the Cogsdale Development and SQA teams to enhance Cogsdale’s suite of products as well as design Microsoft Dynamics GP and CRM extensions.  The ideal candidate will be able to “champion” the client experience through their exceptional communication skills and ability to envision efficient end user work flows.

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with customers to define requirements which will then be used to enhance the current product offering.
  • Analyze and evaluate complex accounting concepts and make recommendations for software enhancements based on existing functionality and business objectives.
  • Prepare detailed functional specifications for software enhancements which outline business requirements, user interfaces, and process flows.
  • Work with Developers, Quality Assurance Analysts, Technical Writers, Consultants, Business Development and Support Analysts to ensure that the product offering exceeds customer expectations.
  • Provide a basis for estimating required effort associated with enhancements.
  • Maintain and manage a list of requested product enhancements.
  • Conduct educational sessions on product enhancements for clients.

Skills and Experience:

  • A professional accounting designation or a University degree with an accounting major is preferred. Candidates working towards a CMA or CGA designation, or equivalent education and work experience, will also be considered.
  • Three-five years of professional accounting experience.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand customer requirements and processes.
  • Ability to apply research and analysis methods toward finding creative and scalable solutions.
  • Travel requirement is approximately 15%.
