Division of Marketing and Communications
Duties:
Reporting to the Director of Alumni Affairs and Development and acting under the general direction of the Associate Director (Communications), Division of Marketing and Communications, the successful applicant will be responsible for planning and implementing strategic communications activities for the Office of Alumni Affairs and Development. Duties include developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating communications plans; developing and implementing electronic communications including conducting a needs assessment, coordinating and maintaining new initiatives; writing, coordinating and producing alumni and development publications; coordinating publication advertising; writing proposals/letters for fund raising; liaison for alumni and development communications issues with university faculties and schools, as well as representatives of print and electronic media; providing support to the Alumni Association and serving as recording secretary; assisting other staff members in the promotion of affinity programs as well as chapter and reunion efforts; and performing other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Considerable experience (3-5 years) in journalism or public relations, preferably working with alumni; graduation from university with major course work in public relations or journalism; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Experience in developing a variety of effective and innovative communications vehicles, including web sites and publications, would be an asset. Excellent presentation, writing, editing and proofreading skills are required. Experience working in the higher education sector and in using a variety of related print and electronic media, would be definite assets.
Salary: $35,557 on the scale of $35,557 – $49,863
