Seafood Marketing and Support Services Division, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, St. John's, NL
Duties: The Director of Seafood Marketing and Support Services is responsible for managing a diverse range of marketing services to the fishing and aquaculture industries. This work includes: designing, initiating and administering market development projects focused on major species, aquaculture products and underutilized resources; the identification, development and implementation of innovative marketing strategies; and the provision of market information and intelligence for use by industry and government. In addition, the Director is responsible for establishing and managing industry participation in local, national and international trade shows and promotions; and for formulating and implementing policies to assist industry enhance seafood markets and the marketing of the province's fisheries resources. The position is also responsible for the department's fisheries infrastructure support services, including engineering support and facility divestiture initiatives.
Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of the province's fishing industry and the international seafood industry as well as experience in fish and seafood marketing and/or market development. Must possess the ability to work independently, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and have considerable initiative. Candidate must be a strategic, analytical, and innovative thinker. As the leader of a team of professionals, the successful candidate requires excellent organizational, budget and human resource management, interpersonal and communication skills. The above qualifications would normally have been acquired through the completion of a degree in business, with a speciality in marketing combined with at least five years experience in the development and implementation of seafood marketing strategies. Equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience may be considered.
Salary: $63,852 - $83,008 (HL-27)
