One (1) permanent position of Marine Engineer (3rd Class) with Marine Services Division, Transportation and Works located on the M.V. Inch Arran.
Duties: Responsible for the mechanical operation of the engine room and its auxiliaries the successful candidate is required to act as engineer in charge of the engine room and auxiliaries by supervising and participating in activating, operating and controlling the main engines; inspect, clean and perform electronic, plumbing, mechanical and hydraulic repairs and maintenance in accordance with departmental preventative maintenance schedules; ensures that back-up systems are in operational order; accompany the vessel as required during refit schedules and assists technical personnel in carrying out repairs and alterations; maintain an adequate level of supplies and routine parts; other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Considerable experience in marine engineering and the operation and maintenance of marine diesel, hydraulic and electrical equipment; possess strong organizational and communication skills and well developed interpersonal skills. These would normally be acquired by completion of related course work in the electrical and mechanical trades with appropriate marine related courses and training. Possession of a 3rd Class Motor Engineer’s Certificate issued by Transport Canada, and associated endorsements, MED’s, First Aid and Marine Medical is required.
Salary: $38,896.00 - $43,180.80 (FW 28)
