Production Engineer
Competition No. 08-05-CB
Reporting to the Paper Mill Superintendent, the Production Engineer will monitor and analyse production data and processes, and develop efficient engineering processes for three paper machines. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Analyse process and lost time data to establish correlations in an effort to improve quality, productivity and cost effectiveness.

Develop and elaborate efficient engineering processes aimed at continuously improving machine runnability and paper quality.

Develop and execute trials on clothing, chemicals and process changes.

Maintain the R & D database for the department.

Provide relief duty for Paper Mill Supervisors as required.

Adhere to, and promote company safety and environmental policies.

Support and advise the Paper Mill Superintendent and Machine Superintendents on aspects of machine runnability and paper quality.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and have knowledge of papermaking, TMP operations, and recycling techniques. Supervisory work experience would be an asset. Essential job requirements include strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; an ability to prioritize, plan and organize; capacity to exercise problem solving techniques; and proficiency in computers, particularly Excel, Powerpoint and statistical analysis programs.
