Accountabilities: As the successful candidate, you will provide the technical expertise and coordination related to the Construction of the NSPI new Corporate Office facility located at Lower Water Street.
Your responsibility includes:
- Manage the project to completion, utilizing Nova Scotia Power resources and funding as effectively and safely as possible. For example: Project Management of the overall Site; resolving technical issues as they arise, set up scheduled reviews of the project with the Senior Project Manager and on site personnel; working with the Senior Project Manager to bring the project to completion, on schedule and on budget, will make stakeholder inspections;
- Research and examine options before implementation to maximize safety/reliability and minimize cost;
- Conduct negotiation with contractors and stakeholders in a professional manner and in the best interest of Nova Scotia Power;
- Provide cost estimate and change order for project while tracking expenses;
- Provide specification and evaluation to ensure quality material is obtained;
- Review tender and contract awards to ensure they are in the best interest of Nova Scotia Power;
- Conduct inspection of the asset and follow up with any deficiency;
- Keep abreast of industry development, standards, regulations, codes;
- Supervise Nova Scotia Power employees or external contractors as required;
- Contribute to a work environment based on mutual trust and respect while carrying out all work in a safe and effective manner.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience: The successful candidate will possess a Civil Engineering degree with a minimum of 5 years experience in design and project management, civil infrastructures and building projects. The candidate has demonstrated strong organizational and management skills in planning, designing, and managing projects. You are a team player, possess a high level of initiative, have good communication skills, and work well under pressure. You must be a member of APENS or eligible to be a member of APENS.
