Role Overview:

We are currently seeking several Java Developers for a three month contract with AnyWare Group in its Saint John location. This position could potentially lead to full time employment for the right candidates.

The Java Developer is responsible for conducting detailed design, development and testing software using Java as well as related web technologies such as HTML, CSS and Javascript.

Responsibilities:

• Translate design requirements and specifications into quality implementations using Java and Web technologies.
• Contribute to architecture and technical design discussions.
• Perform analysis of requirements and turn into detail software design.
• Maintain source and object code and reusable component software libraries.
• Document designs and test plans and participate on systems testing teams.
• Implement software designs by coding according to specifications in a timely fashion.
• Design and implement effective user interfaces that are intuitive and easy to use.
• Perform quality assurance tasks, such as black box testing, unit tests, and installation tests on a variety of software platforms.
• Utilize configuration management and software distribution tools as required.
• Perform analysis and resolution of system performance problems.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in information systems, or computer science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years experience with Object Oriented programming, 2 years of which should be developing with Java.
• Must have recent experience developing and delivering high performance server side applications in Java including a deep understanding of core Java and the standard Java libraries.
• Experience in developing applications for web-based environments is required. UI Development Skills including knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS and XML are important.
• Knowledge of MySQL database or any other RDBMS with good understanding of SQL language is necessary.
• Experience working with UNIX/Linux systems, especially Sun Microsystems technology, would be an asset.
• Ability to work effectively either independently or with team members and relate well with members of management and employees.
• Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to generate “out-of-the-box” solutions to technical problems.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

This position does not require travel.
