Category Manager

A leading retail leader that is changing its industry is currently seeking a dynamic Category Manager to join their team in Halifax.  Reporting to the Director of Category Management, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for product categories and ensuring that this direction aligns with overall corporate goals.

Through the continued analysis of market and consumer trends, the Category Manager will gain an in-depth understanding of market opportunities and develop plans to capitalize on them.  By developing winning relationships with leading suppliers, this person will manage vendors to maximize return providing long-term mutual benefit for both parties.  You will develop strategies and tactics for pricing, promotion, product, and placement to ensure sales and profit targets are met or exceeded.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience which must include category management.  You are passionate about retail and have demonstrated success in this field.  You possess superior leadership, communication, and team building skills.  A related degree is essential.
