Vessel Weight Control Engineer
Irving Shipbuilding Inc's primary office is located at the Halifax Shipyard with other locations in the Maritime Provinces. The company has been carrying out ship repair, building quality ships and fabricated modules for over 100 yrs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensure the "Weight Log" is maintained for all equipment, systems, subsystems and appendages throughout the life of the design-build project
- Work with engineering disciplines and the design agent to collate weight data as required for reporting and trending
- Manage weight through the weight control program, weight budget and technical statement of requirements (TSOR) for equipment, systems and subsystems
- Perform dead weight checks, audits, and produce detailed reports
- Ensure weight budget requirements are included in purchase documentation
- Cross reference weight information to the TSOR and associated documentation
- Liaise with the shipyard to establish anticipated lift weights
- Identify weight issues working with design agent engineers and production
- Ensure the "As-Built" information is incorporated into final reports and causes for any discrepancies between the weight budget at the start of the weight control program and the last report are documented.
- Work with 2D AutoCAD drawings and within a 3D model environment
Experience & Education Requirements – Knowledge & Skills:
- Diploma in Marine Engineering Technology with courses in Naval Architecture or equivalent
- 2 years experience in a Marine related environment
