Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse is accountable primarily as a direct provider, coordinator, and advocate of resident/patient-centered care in the care of residents/patients whose health status and health care requirements are stable to complex and outcomes of care are predictable to unpredictable. 

As coordinator of care, the RN is accountable to develop, record, delegate, monitor, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN collaborates with colleague health providers, the resident/patient, and family to facilitate a safe, thorough, and satisfactory care experience.

Qualifications:

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia required.
• Bachelor degree in nursing preferred.
• Minimum two years Long Term/Geriatric Nursing experience required.
• Current experience working in outpatient/emergency departments preferred.
• Gerontological nursing certificate preferred.
• ACLS certification required.
• Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuing education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks required.
• Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively and effectively with others.
• Demonstrated strong clinical and nursing assessment skills required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
• Previous work attendance may be considered.
