Permanent Resource Nurse - Outpatient Department/Long Term Care

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse is accountable primarily as a direct provider, coordinator, and advocate of patient/resident-centered care in the care of patients/residents whose health status and health care requirements are stable to complex and outcomes of care are predictable to unpredictable.  As coordinator of care, the RN is accountable to develop record, delegate, monitor, and evaluate the plan of care.  The RN collaborates with colleague health providers, the patient, and family to facilitate a safe, thorough, and satisfactory care experience.  This position consists of twelve hour shifts with a flexible six week posted work schedule. 

Qualifications:

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
• Minimum two years geriatric/long-term care nursing experience required.
• Minimum two years experience Out Patient/Emergency nursing required.
• Gerontological nursing certificate preferred.
• ACLS certification required.
• TNCC and PALS certification an asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuing education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks required.
• Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively and effectively with others.
• Demonstrated strong clinical and nursing assessment skills required.
• A valid Driver’s license & access to a reliable automobile is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
