Accounts Payable Administrator

Flagstone Reinsurance Limited is a rapidly expanding Class IV Bermuda based Reinsurance Company traded on the New York Stock Exchange with operations worldwide.  To meet the demands of continued growth and diversification there is a requirement for an Accounts Payable Administrator to join the Accounting team in the Halifax, NS office, which is the primary location for worldwide Accounting. 

As a member of the G&A Accounting team, the Accounts Payable Administrator will report to and work very closely with the Assistant Controller and will be responsible for the following; 

  • Accurate and timely entry of vendor invoices into the accounts payable system.
  • Process employee expense reports in a timely manner via online expense software tool.
  • Timely resolution of all invoice discrepancies/issues prior to entry into the AP system.
  • Ensure appropriate approval for all invoices relating to purchases not made via a purchase order.
  • Participate in weekly payment batches via EFT’s, wires, drafts and bill pays.
  • Weekly review of the accounts payable sub ledger to ensure accuracy of vendor balances while giving consideration to invoice age and priority. Ensure that urgent payments are issued as required.
  • Ensure credit is received for goods returned to the supplier.
  • Maintenance of AP records related to supplier invoices and other payables as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have previous Accounts Payable experience in a similarly complex Accounting environment.  Experience working with accounting systems and a sense of comfort learning and adopting new systems is essential while previous experience with Dynamics Great Plains will be considered an asset.  An exceptional attention to detail, proven problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively independently is required.  The successful candidate is a self starter with a high level of motivation and work ethic.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills along with a mature and positive attitude is sought.
