Our client, based in the Maritimes, operates a diversified group of companies in Canada and the US and as a result of continued growth and success they are seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist.

Reporting to the Manager of the Payroll and Benefits team, you will ensure payroll and benefits administration is maintained, payroll accounting functions are carried out to standard and payroll processes are in place.  With five direct reports you will lead your team on improvement initiatives and through your guidance the professional development of the employees will be continuous.  The department is involved in the payroll and benefits of more than 8,500 employees and contractors in Canada and the United States.  You will cover many different business sectors and numerous union contracts and several payroll systems. 

The ideal candidate will possess a post secondary education along with payroll certification and five to eight years payroll and benefit experience.  A proven leader with strong problem solving skills and attention to detail, you will have strong accounting and systems skills along with a continuous improvement mindset.  Previous experience with ADP Payroll, Oracle Payroll or Kronos Time Management is considered an asset.
