Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technical Specialist performs and analyses procedures offered by the division using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. The Laboratory Technical Specialist has the capability to conduct all aspects of procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation, establishment and maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs, as well as interpret the technical acceptability of test results. The Laboratory Technical Specialist demonstrates supervisory skills and has some administrative responsibilities in designated areas of the division.
Qualifications:
* Must be a graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology or Masters in Molecular Microbiology
* Must be licensed with NSCMLT
* Minimum 3 years experience in Molecular Microbiology
* Must have demonstrated customer service skills; leadership skills; excellent organization and technical skills; very good verbal and written skills; as well as good decision-making skills
* Demonstrated ability to perform and troubleshoot complex molecular methods
* Demonstrated ability to develop molecular methods that may include cloning strategies
* Ability to develop and troubleshoot real-time PCR techniques
Hours of Work:
* Permanent Full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
* Shift work
Salary: Medical Laboratory Technologist C:
$26.0679 - $31.6465
