Recreation Therapist
(Temporary Part-Time 40% until March 31, 2009)

VON Antigonish Branch currently has an opening for a Recreation Therapist on a part-time temporary basis until March 31, 2009. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating programs for the Adult Day Program.  This will include reviewing referrals for the program; performing assessments of clients and determining eligibility; developing a plan of care in collaboration with program staff, clients, family members and community service providers; monitoring daily client well-being; ensuring a client-centred rationale for all activities.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Degree or Diploma in Recreation Therapy
• Experience in program planning and evaluation
• Community development, public speaking and budgeting experience is an asset
• Knowledge of social and health care services network and community activities
• Experience working with frail and/or cognitively impaired clients and caregivers
• Above average interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others
• Experience working with volunteers
• A valid NS driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
