Accounting Analyst

Our client, a leading environmental services and industrial waste management organization, is seeking an Accounting Analyst for their Dartmouth location. This is a permanent opportunity.

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for providing analytical support to divisional or functional accounting areas such as accounts payable, corporate accounting, accounts receivable and production accounting.

Specific duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with development, modification, implementation and maintenance of tracking systems and processes
• Research and correct discrepancies
• Compile and summarize financial and statistical data
• Recommend, develop and prepare analytical reports
• Participate in month-end accounting process through account analysis, report preparation and other duties as required
• Communicate with managers and customers, providing quality assistance in a timely manner
• Prepare and enter general ledger journal entries
• Balance sheet reconciliation
• Profit and loss analysis

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:

• A post-secondary education at the university level in accounting in combination with two to three years experience in a similar role involving analysis
• Previous experience with account reconciliations and month end processing
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills
• Superior organizational, time management and problem solving skills with above average attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Experience with SAP is considered an asset
