Ocean Nutrition Canada Limited (ONC) is a global leader in the production and supply of Omega-3 ingredients to the dietary supplement and healthy food industries. We are currently seeking an energetic and committed Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright within our Maintenance Department. This position will be based at our manufacturing facility in Mulgrave, NS and will report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Requirements:

• Successful candidate must have status as a Mechanic and /or Millwright and obtained significant credible job experience.
• Must have demonstrated ability to handle detailed mechanical work with exacting tolerances and methodologies.
• Must be able to work in an environment where priorities change, jobs are interrupted for higher priorities and picked up again as priority demands.
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the job, which includes lifting, climbing, handling and manipulation of heavy parts and equipment, and demanding and sometimes repetitive physical work.
• Must be able to work effectively with others to achieve required work objectives
• Strong attention to detail
• Must demonstrate the ability to plan for the requirements of a job, to collect the appropriate materials, keep notes on progress of work, make decisions as to the condition of parts and equipment, carry out repairs efficiently and effectively, to appropriately test equipment for proper operation, and to determine and accurately report specific task requirements of the purchase of parts, and the use of time and resources.
• Strong problem solving skills

Key Responsibilities:

• The rebuilding of Mechanical Equipment including: pumps, blower, liquid ring vacuum pumps, dry vacuum pumps, centrifuges, valves, agitator drives and assemblies, evaporator rotor drives and assemblies, mechanical seal assemblies, and other equipment as required. 
• Troubleshooting mechanical assemblies and systems
• The completion of preventative maintenance procedures for Mechanical Equipment. 
• Preventative maintenance surveys and analysis for mechanical equipment and systems.
• The completion of maintenance records as required ensuring that a complete record of work done is returned appropriately to the maintenance management program, and cost, time, and parts usages, are tracked accurately and in a timely fashion.
• The storage and updating of information required for the repair and maintenance of the above mentioned mechanical equipment.
