We are currently seeking to add a Mechanical Foreman to our team.
Position Overview:
- To supervise the performance of aircraft maintenance, maintenance support activities, and airworthiness related activities on aircraft, aircraft systems, and aircraft components;
- To ensure these activities are performed in accordance with the approved aircraft maintenance program, with the maintenance process manual (MPM), with applicable standard plant procedures (SPPs) and with current technical data:
- To plan, organize and direct the activities of assigned personnel to meet safety, productivity, schedule, quality and administrative objectives and standards of the department.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervise, to the appropriate level (continuous, close, general or minimum), all aircraft maintenance to ensure that work is completed safely, to acceptable standards, within productivity objectives and on schedule.
- Maintain and review department employment records to ensure that aircraft maintenance tasks are only assigned to and accomplished by individuals, who are trained, qualified and authorized for the assigned task.
- Ensure that individuals are correctly briefed and instructed as necessary on assigned tasks.
- Ensure that the work is recorded correctly, completely and in a timely manner both electronically an on hard format documentation.
- Ensure that technical reference, data and work instructions to which maintenance is performed is verified and correctly utilized by the individuals performing the work and that any changes or supplemental work are recorded and initiated correctly.
- Ensure daily clocking reports, PCC Management Reports, and Productivity Reports are reviewed for accuracy and initiate action to correct errors as soon as possible.
- Ensure that a high standard of general maintenance, safety, and work place hygiene is achieved and sustained.
- Exercise due diligence in occupational Health and safety (OH&S) related issues and promptly identify OH& S problems to management as appropriate.
- Maintain a high standard of discipline and conduct within his crew and in the workplace in general.
- Provide expert technical guidance and supervision within his direct trade and provide competent general technical guidance and supervision on all aircraft trade work.
- Sign maintenance release authority (MRA) and aircraft release authority (ARA) in accordance with SPP 006.
- Ensure that all tools, equipment, measuring devices, test equipment, jigs, fixtures, templates and rigging equipment are calibrated as required , are in safe and serviceable condition, are used by qualified individuals in the appropriate manner and are accounted for at the completion of tasks on which they were used.
- Ensure supervisory obligations of the ISO 9001 Quality System (reporting non conformances, correcting non-conformances, correcting cause) are met.
- Ensure that all aircraft servicing and elementary work tasks are completed correctly and recorded.
- Utilize Mapper and other computer applications to determine productivity, PCC material shortages, and RES status.
- Supervise aircraft emergency response crews as required.
- Supervise overtime crews.
- Coordinate with other support staff ( including paint and process shop, inspection, quality, component shop, and manufacturing shops, planning, control centre, material, NDT, engineering and Product Support) to achieve cooperative and effective communications and team work.
- Supervise Mobile Repair Party (MRP), Work Party (WP) and Field Team (FT) crews as required.
- Provide On-Job-Training(OJT) as required.
- Perform personnel and general administrative duties including preparation of performance appraisals, probation and training reports, maintenance of vacation/overtime, MRP rosters. Etc.
- Stand in for Aircraft Manager to provide status and production briefing response at aircraft production meetings.
- Undertake recurrent and update training as required
- Other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- High school completion.
- Graduate of an aerospace technology program or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Must meet the minimum eligibility criteria for aircraft release authority (ARA) set out in the Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM). C-05-005-001/AG-001 Part1, Chapter 4 Annex C Paragraph 17.
- In particular, in addition to the education criteria above, the applicant must have:
- Thorough knowledge gained by formal training and/or work experience of the applicable airworthiness and standards;
- No less than six (6) years of relevant an progressively more responsible aircraft maintenance experience of which at least two (2) years is in the supervision or leadhand coordination of aircraft maintenance.
- No less than two (2) years experience in the performance, inspection, supervision or training of maintenance on the aircraft type involved.
- Knowledge of Labour Relations and Union environment; ability to schedule and coordinate activities between departments.
- Six to ten years experience in Aircraft Maintenance.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
