Type: (3-5) Casuals

Position Scope:

Responsible to the Environmental Services Manager to maintain a clean, safe, functional environment for patients, visitors and employees.  The Environmental Services Worker will exhibit sound judgment and initiative while working within the framework of the objectives of the service and the organization as a whole.  This position requires that the incumbent be available for all shifts.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative; self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated resourcefulness and ability to use good judgment in making decisions.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels of staff and patients.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Accountability and responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to hold in confidence all matters pertaining to patients, employees and the business of the organization.
  • Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practice and organizational health.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position. Including:
    • The ability to lift in excess of 20 kg.
    • The ability to withstand the demands of walking and standing most of the workday.
    • Bending.
  • Demonstrated good attendance in current and past employment (in accordance with AVH Attendance Management Program).
  • Exemplary work history as demonstrated in current and past employment
  • Availability for shift work.
  • Travel within the District may be required.

Preferred:

  • Candidate with recent and relevant Environmental Services procedures experience.

As per current CUPE Collective Agreement

Position to commence as soon as suitable candidates are found.
