Nova Scotia Community College is at a pivotal time in our history. NSCC is on a path to 2011 to redevelop learning spaces, and launched a new Strategic Plan in 2006. The Opportunity: As a member of the Trades and Technology faculty team, you will provide theoretical and practical instruction in the pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and other carpentry related training programs. You will evaluate learning and provide feedback, assist in the development and electronic preparation of related course/program materials, offer academic and career advisement, and provide leadership with respect to shop safety and development. You will be expected to liaise with industry and represent the College when required. You will also maintain currency with the latest industry practices.
Your Credentials:
- You possess a current Inter-provincial Journeyperson status in the Carpentry Trade, combined with a minimum of five years of recent and related occupational experience in the field of residential/commercial carpentry, or the recognized equivalencies. Your occupational experience in all phases of carpentry includes, but is not limited to:
- Energy-efficient building techniques
- Commercial, residential and heavy construction
- Experience with building renovations
- A strong working knowledge of carpentry theory and practice
- Construction estimating
- Other related carpentry skills
- You have related computer skills, including MSWord, Excel, the Internet and E-mail.
- You are innovative and are committed to life-long learning and community involvement.
- Your desire and enthusiasm to teach students with diverse backgrounds and knowledge, along with superb presentation, interpersonal and team building skills, make you an ideal candidate.
- As a creative self-starter, you have been recognized for your high energy, your ability to work in a team environment and your commitment to excellence.
Salary range is $50,373 to $68,261.14 annually.
