This Automotive Technical Consultant position is situated in Oshawa, Ontario east of Toronto, therefore, assistance with Relocation costs from the Maritimes to Ontario will be provided.  This role requires someone who is able to troubleshoot and diagnose repairs with automotive dealer technicians over the phone. Applications are invited from those holding a valid automotive technicianīs license, preferably at the interprovincial level, with several years of dealership repair experience. Good communication skills in English and French combined with basic computer skills are a definite requirement.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Receives calls from dealership automobile mechanics, dealer representatives, Service Managers, and Technicians in various specialized product areas (i.e. Body Electrical, Transmission, Engine, Steering, etc.)
• Handling incoming calls in French and / or English
• Determine call type (i.e. information or problem-solving) and check for existing case information through research, manuals, database or contacts
• Diagnose problem using systematic listening and probing approach to determine root cause and provide information, data and direction as required
• Utilize / research database for relevant product / repair information
• Obtain Product Information updates from Liaison representative or database
• Documents new case or updated case file information in corporate database
• Document product concerns; track and forward to Supervisor
• Perform follow ups on existing cases and close cases as appropriate

Specific Requirements:

• Must have a Class 'A' Auto Technicianīs License
• French and English language skills are a must
• 5-10 years hands on experience with automotive repairs, diagnosing and troubleshooting in a dealership environment
• Experience within a dealership environment would be preferred
• Graduate from the General Motors ASEP program and/or training/experience with General Motors products would be a definite asset
• Multiple areas of automotive expertise would be an asset along with a desire to learn and train in other areas
• Basic PC software knowledge including Windows with basic keyboarding experience
