Quality Control Manager

We are a large, diversified construction company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces.

We are currently seeking an energetic, self driven individual to take on the position as Quality Control Manager. 

This position will involve coordinating and managing all aspects of quality control testing and inspection for provincial highway construction and municipal works contracts.

Reporting to the General Manager, this individual will be interacting with the General Superintendents on a daily basis.  This position will be a hands-on position that will require the individual to travel to job sites and be on call on an as needed basis when an issue arises.

Essential Functions:

• Implementing quality control standards and overseeing the inspection of production output to assure compliance with customer specifications
• Coordinating day to day testing and inspection for all NSDOT highway contracts, HRM and private asphalt distribution from the Bedford operation
• Yearly cost analysis of all QC services
• Liaison with Government and Municipal project engineers
• Direct, instruct and advise QC supervisors

Qualifications:

• P.Eng. designation, or equivalent experience, in materials engineering coupled with past managerial experience is preferred
• 5-7+ years previous experience dealing with aggregates, asphalt and sand and gravel
• 3+ years previous experience managing QC labs
• Proven communication skills and experienced problem solver with extensive planning and organizing skills
