Title:  Production/Manufacturing Engineer

Department – Technical Support – Halifax

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Must be a highly dependable team player with a commitment to customer satisfaction, process quality, and safety;
  • Must have the ability to communicate and interact with employee groups at various levels;
  • Must have the ability to work in a procedural environment and be willing and able to work overtime;
  • Must be able to work with or around chemicals (adhesives, paints/coatings, cleaning agents, etc);
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, most specifically MS Access and MS Excel;
  • Experience as a Manufacturing or Production Engineer in low volume, high mix, electronics systems manufacturing an asset;
  • Experience in the application of lean principles to improve manufacturing and support processes an asset;
  • Experience in developing web based documentation an asset; Experience IPC Class III environment an asset;
  • Experience in use or support of SAP CS, DMS, MM, PP, PS, and/or QM modules an asset.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances

Description of Duties

  • In a high reliability electronic systems manufacturing environment, this employee will be expected to work with other engineering professionals to develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing related process with the key success factors being improved customer delivery, increased process/product quality, excellent safety levels for employee and product, and reduced cost.
  • To  this, the employee will be expected to lead; perform; and/or participate in process analyses and improvement/implementation activities including but not limited to the following:
    1. Creation of current and future state process documentation (value stream mapping);
    2. Evaluation, selection/design, installation, and set up of manufacturing and material handling equipment, fixtures, and tools; 
    3. Creation of process documentation including operation, control, measurement, and correction operations;
    4. Development of detailed training plans and instructions for process execution and equipment operation;
    5. Development of detailed, product specific manufacturing instructions for use by assembly personnel;
    6. Evaluation, disposition, and root cause correction of process or product specific anomalies that occur during production.
