Feed Nova Scotia is an umbrella organization serving approximately 150 member agencies throughout Nova Scotia.  More than 40,000 individuals rely on the organization to supplement their regular food supply each month.  To keep pace with the growing need for food assistance, the organization relies heavily on the community for generous levels of financial and food contributions. Energetic, passionate individual required to lead all Perishable Warehouse activities and related functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inventory control, order creating, generating shipping documents
• Receiving, sorting, and shipping of produce and frozen foods to Member Agencies
• Optimize waste stream paths consistent with environmental policies
• By example, professionally lead and motivate both staff and volunteer teams
• Tracking of all produce and product bins, returning to respective owners
• Spearhead accurate data entry with respect to closing out orders
• Ensure safety is top priority at all times
• Ensure proper sanitation and good housekeeping principles are maintained

Qualification Requirements:

• University or equivalent work experience
• Experience in working in a warehouse environment, ideally in the food industry
• Excellent computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel,)
• Fork lift certified and /or fork lift experience and willing  to obtain certification
• Self-motivated, conscientious and compassionate
• Good communication skills
• Physical ability to consistently lift 25 kg boxes
• Ability to understand the importance of Safety and work safely within an active environment, experience working with volunteers considered and asset
