The City of Corner Brook is currently recruiting for a Sustainable Development Officer, and is looking for an individual who can work effectively in a fast paced, supervisory environment with both union and non-union staff, as well as elected officials and members of the community.

Sustainable Development Officer

Reporting to the Director of Operational Services, the Sustainable Development Officer is responsible for a wide range of areas related to the environmental stewardship and sustainability practices of the City of Corner Brook including: solid waste management, pollution control, climate change management, water conservation, storm water management, and municipal wastewater effluent issues. The Sustainable Development Officer will maintain strong Departmental and Inter-Departmental working relationships to advance goals of sustainability throughout many different City initiatives.

The City of Corner Brook is looking for an individual with a minimum of three years of project management in integrated solid waste or landfill engineering, environmental regulatory compliance or a related environmental field. The individual must possess an Environmental Technology diploma/degree from a recognized post secondary institution and must also possess a sound understanding of pertinent municipal, provincial and federal legislation, as well as recycling and waste reduction techniques, and the principles and practices of solid waste disposal. The individual should also possess strong organizational, planning, analytical, quality control and communication skills.
