The Municipality of the County of Antigonish invites applications for the position of Community Education Coordinator. This position within the municipal structure, reports  directly to the Recreation Director.

The successful candidate will, develop, coordinate, implement and oversee the Community Education Program. This includes a diverse selection of classes, workshops, and activities for youth and adults as well as scheduling community use and extra curricular activities at various schools in Antigonish.

As designated, s/he participates in the provision of programs and services of the recreation department. Specific duties vary and may include, but is not limited to, some or all of the following: coordinating, assisting, evaluating, hiring, supervising, promoting, scheduling as well as establishing and maintaining  liaisons with various organizations. 

The successful candidate should have, as a minimum, a degree in Recreation, or a closely related field, or a suitable combination of education and experience.

The ideal candidate should have experience in coordinating initiatives, facilitation, planning, evaluation, and working with community groups, as well as proven training/experience organizing and implementing recreation programs and activities. Must possess strong supervisory, planning, organizational and administrative skills and an ability to multi-tasks.

In addition, the candidate should have a proven ability to communicate with elected and appointed officials as well as the general public. Excellent public relations skills required.

Other essential skills include computer skills as well as an ability to work independently and as part of team.
