Lab Technician Opportunities
Ultra Electronics Maritime Systems (UEMS), a division of Ultra Electronics Canada Defence Inc., has earned its reputation as a world leader in the design, development and manufacture of advanced communication, surveillance, command and control, and security systems for critical real-time applications in extreme environments. Examples of current systems level projects include the supply of integrated sonar systems for the Royal Australian Navy's new Air Warfare Destroyers (AWDs) and a Towed Array system for the Royal Dutch Navy.
We are now looking for a Lab Technician to work in the engineering department to build the latest generation of underwater sensors and systems. The Lab Technician is responsible for fabrication, assembly, maintenance, testing, repairing and modifying various types of assemblies and sub assemblies. The Lab Technician will work both individually and as part of a team on a wide range of mechanical and electrical projects.
What are we looking for?
The successful candidates are likely to have an Electronics or Mechanical Technician/Technologist Diploma and/or equivalent proven experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
Applicants will also possess the following skills & abilities:
- Capability to work from and interpret drawings, electronic sketches and schematics
- Ability to work in a prototyping environment
- Ability to perform high reliability soldering (IPC standard)
- Comfortable compiling and analyzing data and documentation (test procedures, etc.)
- Confident working with high value, complex products
- Great attention to detail
- Ability to navigate though a Windows based PC and use MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
