As we continue to grow and develop, we are currently seeking experienced Wireless Operation Technicians to work with our Wireless Implementation Team at various locations throughout Nova Scotia.
Our Wireless Operations Technicians are responsible to perform corrective and preventive maintenance activities on EastLink wireless access sites in order to maximize network availability. You will also participate in deployment activities by taking on the commissioning of wireless sites and will support the radio network engineering team through his involvement in field data collection, new equipment testing and general radio network optimization activities.
You develop strong relationships with peers, management and key business contacts while demonstrating your ability to adapt and think critically in an environment that has multiple project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with EastLink's Wireless operation standards, to maximize network availability and quality and achieve other performance metrics
- Perform commissioning of new sites; site acceptance activities; field RF measurements and Data Collection
- Work with NOC at implementing Fault management, configuration management and performance management tools
- Test new wireless products/technology in collaboration with the Access Engineering team
- Maintain equipment firmware and configuration up to date
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a recognized Electronics program or Telecommunications program or equivalent with 5-7 years of relevant experience with wireless networks
- Experience in and understanding of Wireless Network Operations and Wireless Network architecture
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, holidays and emergency situations
- Ability to work in inclement weather conditions (including snow, rain & cold)
- Ability to work safely aloft from a ladder, pole gaffs, or bucket truck near energized equipment / lines
- Ability to manually lift, push, pull 60 – 90 lbs, kneel, crouch and work above shoulders on occasion
- Commitment to Occupational Health and Safety work safe practices
- Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and satisfactory criminal records check
