Location: Point Aconi Generating Station

Accountabilities: 

Join the enthusiastic, energetic team at our Point Aconi generating station whose employees have worked over 1600 days without incurring a lost time injury.

As a valued member of the Point Aconi team, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining equipment maintenance work plans including preventative and corrective maintenance, planned and unplanned shutdowns and capital equipment upgrades.

You will also provide technical support to the various Maintenance and Operations departments at Point Aconi Generating Station (1 – unit 190 MW plant) ensuring safety and loss control, ISO14001 Environmental Management System, production, maintenance and business objectives are met.

You will work in concert with plant management and will be accountable to support multi-discipline engineering functions as required. You will have involvement in the capital program including project scoping, project preparation, cost control and project management.

You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience: 

You must be a professional engineer and a full member (or eligible for membership) in A.P.E.N.S. A degree in mechanical, electrical, environmental or chemical engineering is preferred with heavy industry, supervisory and/or project management experience considered assets. Demonstrated leadership capabilities will also be considered a strong asset. A good working knowledge of work management and maintenance planning systems is preferred.

Consideration will be given to candidates possessing an engineering degree from another discipline and having the appropriate skills and applicable level of experience in heavy industry.

You must possess strong oral and written communication skills, exemplary interpersonal skills and be able to function effectively in a team environment. You must be a self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills with established skills in managing multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously. You must possess strong computer skills.You must demonstrate your commitment to personal development. You must be available for after hour consultation and emergency plant work. You must possess a valid driver’s license and locate your principal residence within one hour of the Point Aconi Generating Station.
