Technical Support Engineer – Microsoft Exchange/ Messaging Team
Quest Software is seeking an individual with a strong background in the areas of Windows Server Management and MS Exchange. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience managing a complex medium to enterprise server environment. This person will be technically minded with strong troubleshooting skills and ability to support System/Network Administrators using our Windows Management product line with an emphasis on the Exchange tools. This position is very challenging and dynamic with great room for growth – based out of the Halifax, Nova Scotia office.
Engineers will work independently and as part of a team using their skills to solve customer's technical issues in various heterogeneous (Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Active Directory, other Messaging systems) environments.
The engineer will also be responsible for providing after-hours support as part of an on-call rotation. Please indicate on your application cover letter if you are flexible to consider an Afternoon Shift (Noon to 9 pm), this is a strong plus but not a requirement.
Day-to-day duties Include:
- Field incoming technical issues from customers.
- Maintain a personal queue of ongoing customer issues until resolution.
- Interface with R&D resources to bring advanced issues to resolution.
- Document all customer/case details in a case tracking system.
- Create knowledgebase articles from resolved issues for future use by customers and internal personnel.
- Act as a customer advocate with customer service and satisfaction a top priority.
- You must be independent, self-motivated, a team player and have a people-oriented personality.
Required Skills/Technologies:
- Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007.
- SQL Server and T-SQL or equivalent RDBMS experience.
- Knowledge of enterprise network configuration and other troubleshooting methods.
- A desire to get to the bottom of problems.
- Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, and LDAP.
- Experience with IIS, DNS, Web and SOCKS Proxies.
- Knowledge of Enterprise and Public Instant Messaging systems. (OCS, Sametime, Windows Live Messenger)
Preferred Experience:
- Prior technical support experience or system administration.
- MCSE / MCSA Windows 2000 / 2003. (or equivalent work experience)
- Scripting knowledge. (VBS, Jscript, etc)
- Knowledge of firewalls, IDS, web filtering or other security technologies desired.
- Knowledge of LinuxUnix.
