Shift Supervisor (1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer)

Our client has an immediate opportunity for a 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer to assume the role of Shift Supervisor within their facility in the greater New Glasgow, NS area.

Reporting directly to the Chief Power Engineer, the incumbent will supervise the day-to-day operations of the department to achieve the departmental and mill objectives.  The Shift Supervisor will also coordinate maintenance activities in Recovery, Utilities and Recausticizing Departments; and assist in developing operations and maintenance programs for equipment upgrades/alterations to enhance efficiency.

The incumbent must support budget, production and cost objectives in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining government acts and regulations and Company objectives with respect to safety, labour, air and effluent emissions.  In addition, the selected candidate will assist in implementing sound safety and environmental practices, liases with regulatory agencies and enhances the employees' skills and awareness through department training and safety programs.

Qualifications:
This position requires a minimum of a Second Class Power Engineer's Certificate, several years' industrial experience, as well as at least one year of recovery boiler operating experience.  The incumbent must have the ability to plan, organize, lead and motivate employees and should possess the technical and practical knowledge of all phases of steam, power and recovery facilities associated with a modern sulphate mill.
