Accountabilities:
This position will be responsible for the electrical design of protection systems for HV and EHV transmission lines and apparatus. The candidate will be responsible to ensure the protection system designs meet all applicable standards (CSA, NPCC, NERC, or other National/Provincial Codes or Regulations). The position will provide technical support to field staff on the associated protection systems. The candidate may be required to do onsite commissioning of these systems. You will be required to work closely with the transmission design team to meet schedules for capital investment projects.
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupation Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental management system processes and initiatives. You must demonstrate your commitment to the Capabilities Development Process.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, full membership (or eligible for membership) in APENS, strong analytical/computer skills and an aptitude for detailed engineering are required for the position. The ideal candidate will have a power engineering background, and a minimum of five years experience in the design/ commissioning of P&C systems, AC and DC schematic diagrams, protective relays, and communication and control systems.
You must possess a valid driver's license and be available to provide assistance/ direction for after hour emergency service restoration.
