Engineering Specialist (Transmission Planning)

Accountabilities:  The Engineering Specialist (Transmission Planning) is accountable for developing transmission planning documentation within NSPI to meet the requirements of NPCC and NERC criteria and standards; providing technical guidance to junior transmission planning engineers, overseeing consultants on transmission planning studies and system impact studies on a needed basis; modeling and performing transmission planning studies, system impact studies, comprehensive transmission area reviews and any other studies required by NPCC to ensure that NSPI transmission plan will meet NPCC and NERC criteria and standards; identifying capital investments required for transmission expansion and/or for optimizing the transmission system efficiency.

You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.  You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.

Skills, Capabilities and Experience:

You are a graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, minimum of 12 years related experience and a full member (or eligible for membership) in APENS.  You possess fully developed technical knowledge in electric utility engineering disciplines and have knowledge of transmission planning tools (PTI PSS/E) and processes.  You possess strong oral and written communication skills, a strong customer service ethic, good interpersonal skills and are able to function effectively in a team environment.  You have the ability to provide work leadership and technical direction to fellow engineers and technical support staff.  You are a self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills.  You possess strong computer skills. You must demonstrate your commitment to personal development.  You must be available for after hour consultation and emergency power restoration work.

You must possess a valid driver's license.
