Construction Manager

Geosam Investments Ltd., a private investment company with offices in Halifax and Toronto, has an immediate opening for a Construction Manager.  This position will be located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

As the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing our development projects and working with the development manager in identifying potential opportunities.  You will oversee contractors, timelines, negotiate contracts and budgets. In this role you will work closely with not only the contractors but in some cases the end user.

In addition to being a highly motivated, detailed, analytical, results orientated individual, the successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years related experience
• Degree in Civil Engineering an asset
• Commercial real estate development/construction/project management experience
• Able to read and interpret Mechanical/Structural/Electrical designs
• Experience with fitup work and conducting construction activity in an operating business environment
• A back ground in procurement and logistics, coupled with an eye for details would be an asset
• A forward thinker who thinks outside the box and challenges the status quo
• A proven track record of effectively handling multiple projects simultaneously as well as an ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, complex environment
• Strong communication skills, including demonstrated ability to present insights and actionable recommendations in a concise and persuasive manner to internal and external contacts/clients
• Strong organizational and follow up skills
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolutions skills
• Travel will be required
