Our client is seeking a Senior Geotechnical or Civil Engineer for a position with their Sudbury and Toronto offices.  The successful candidate will have:

• Civil Engineering degree or technical diploma and appropriate years of experience with courses in construction, earthworks or geotechnical engineering
• 10 years of operational experience as a practitioner in a metalliferous (or potash) mine or in a consulting environment
• Experience should include mine waste management including the construction, operation and closure of mines, tailings, permitting for operations and dealing with associated water management issues, operational design, dam construction etc
• At least 10 years of engineering experience with tailings dam design and waste rock dump design; preparation of construction and tender specifications; and management of construction projects in a mining environment
• Familiar with a range of engineering software; eg. cost-base, slope stability, ground water regimen, consolidation etc
• Worked on a number of new projects either at one mine or on a variety of mines
• Consulting experience would be an asset
• Demonstrated leadership and project management experience; experience with working independently

The successful candidate will consult on projects for North American and International clients; requiring travel. The successful candidate will manage and undertake engineering projects related primarily to the mining industry, including geotechnical aspects of project design, construction, operation and closure.
 
As a consultant, the successful candidate will be expected to create and maintain client relationships and work in a team environment. Strong communication skills and interpersonal capabilities are essential.
