One of our clients in St. John's, NL is seeking a Network Engineer. In this role you will be working within the Customer Solutions Engineering team, the Network Engineer designs and implements optimized network connectivity solutions to support the client's mobile satellite services. The Network Engineer provides operational handoff and documentation of these solutions.
Responsibilities:
Design network solutions to work in conjunction with the existing client's network infrastructure. The network design will be focused on reliability and cost effective implementation. The existing network infrastructure is based IP and ATM networks using Cisco and Alcatel equipment. Work with Product Management and other internal teams to ensure that all functional requirements of the network design are documented and clearly understood. Verification of network design through testing solutions and ensuring that all functional requirements are achieved. Implementation and verification of the network design within the operational network ensuring compatibility with other network services. Operation handoff of the implemented solutions including complete system documentation and design notes as well as operational training, as required.
Third tier technical support for support issues that are escalated from operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Extensive experience in designing network solutions - including IP, ATM, VPN and MPLS networks
- Considerable experience with computer hardware and software in general
- Considerable experience with setup, configuration and troubleshooting of computer systems, including; hardware, operating systems, application software, modems, networking and electronic devices in general
- Experience with Cisco and Alcatel network products
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
