Intermediate Mechanical Engineer—Saint John NB

TRS Staffing is seeking a high caliber Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to work on a contract basis for 6 months with possibility of extension. Based in Saint John, New Brunswick, you will be working for one of the world's leading engineering, procurement and construction companies to the Oil, Gas & Petrochemical sector.

The applicant would be reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer working on the mechanical portion of refinery projects on our client's site.

Typical tasks would include:

• Complete basic system design for a variety of mechanical equipment (pressure vessels, pumps and heat exchangers) and systems. Perform and check basic mechanical design calculations.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines in completion of system design.
• Prepare the technical portion of Request for Quotation & Purchase Requisition packages for the purchase of mechanical equipment.
• Support procurement activities and coordinate with equipment vendors to ensure projects assigned are delivered in compliance with pertinent codes, standards and specifications.
• Communicate project status to the Mechanical Lead Engineer and Project Managers as required.
  Provide field engineering support for the installation of mechanical equipment and projects assigned.

Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering
• The candidate should have a minimum two years of previous experience in the oil and gas industry, or three years of relevant experience in other industrial environments.
• Knowledge of ASME code, API, ANSI, ASTM, PIP and other standards applicable to the oil and gas industry are considered to be assets.
• Preferred experience would include experience with pumps, pressure vessels and heat exchangers.

• The candidate must be able to demonstrate good communication and problem solving skills.
• The ideal candidate will be a mechanical generalist who is hard working, communicative and able to adjust to a fast-paced environment.
