The big picture and how you'll be part of it
The Intermediate Coastal Engineer position is a full time permanent position located in our Victoria, BC office in the Marine and Coastal Group.
Our Marine and Coastal Group is looking for a motivated self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team environment.
Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
As the successful candidate, you will be able to perform some or all of the following:

engineering of coastal infrastructure in both marine and freshwater environments (as a project lead or as part of a larger project team) for small to large development projects like outfalls, ports, pipelines and energy projects;

preparation of feasibility studies, detailed design drawings, design specifications, tender packages;
-
modelling such as pipeline hydraulics, dilution and dispersion, sediment transport, hydrodynamics;
-
development and execution of field programs for pre-design investigations (eg. water quality, sediment quality, currents, bathymetry);
-
preparation of proposals and reports; and liaison with clients and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's or Master's Degree from accredited curriculum;
-
registered professional (or working towards and eligible to be a registered professional);
-
preference will be given to qualified professionals with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the fields of Coastal/Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Pipeline Engineering;
-
an interest in working on coastal infrastructure projects and working with environmental scientists to develop solutions that fit site characteristics;
-
ability to present technical information, both written and verbally, in a concise and professional manner;
-
the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
-
BC or Canadian Occupational SCUBA diving certification would be an asset; and familiarity with provincial and federal acts and regulations relating to in-water construction (e.g., discharges, fish habitat, navigation and environmental assessments).
