Brilun Construction is currently seeking a Construction Estimator for our commercial Construction and Drywall Services Division based in Sydney, NS. Reporting to the President, your role will involve a number of responsibilities. As the Senior Estimator you will:

Responsibilities:

• Preparing accurate estimates for commercial construction projects in a timely manner;
• Performing material take-offs and pricing to provide accurate quotes to customers;
• Review bid documents (specifications, drawings, addendums, bid alternates, delivery dates if noted and bid closing date) and efficiently coordinate sending/receiving of estimating documents to contractors;
• Engage in cost analysis of various projects in commercial construction and renovations
• Prepare drawing and addendum reviews in relation to bids
• promote a strong customer service and ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining open and honest communications with commercial and governmental clients

To be considered for this exciting role, you must meet the following criteria:

• A minimum of 5 years experience in an estimation capacity in commercial construction
• All commercial construction related experience is taken into consideration and view as an asset
• Capable of assessing safety related training for ensuring safe workplace, conforming with all app licable codes and legislation, including occupational health and safety, WHMIS and hazardous substances programs
• A candidate with a Engineering Technology diploma or Engineering degree would be preferred.
• Previous estimating experience in commercial construction is considered an asset;
• Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision;
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills are required as well as the ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment;
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel;
• Experience working with MS Projects is definitely an asset.
