Intermediate Structural Mechanical Engineer

We are currently seeking to add an Intermediate Structural Mechanical Engineer to our team.

Position Overview:

Responsible to the Manager, CH 149 ISSC Engineering for the conduct of Life-Cycle management and engineering support of CH149 Cormorant structural and dynamic components, including identification of performance objectives, the monitoring of performance and maintenance requirements, recommending improvements as necessary to optimize life-cycle costs.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Coordinate/support the activities of the Department in respect to the CH149 Reliability Program, and MMEL development.
  • Coordinate/support the activities of the Department in respect to Maintenance program monitoring, maintenance rationalization, and maintenance requirements analysis.
  • Identify performance criteria/objectives for CH149 aircraft structures and dynamic components and monitor in-service performance to these criteria, and recommending technical investigations to identify and correct deficiencies or reduce life-cycle cost.
  • Provide management of major engineering special projects by coordinating the activities of the department with the other Engineering departments, other branches of the company, R&O Subcontractors, to ensure their completion on time and within budget.
  • Investigate and identify areas of revenue potential that might be exploited using the skills and resources of the Department. 
  • Coordinate the delivery of technical advice to MOBs.
  • Conduct activities associated with implementing and monitoring corrective action in regard to service difficulty reporting, special inspections, service bulletins and airworthiness directives.
  • Conduct effective communications and liaison on technical matters with representatives from MOBs, DND, OEMs, DSN elements, and Design Authorities.
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical memorandums.
  • Provide support to the configuration management and data management activities of the Department.
  • Perform airworthiness functions as a recognized DE/DT when authorized.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff as required
  • Other tasks as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • B.Eng or B.Sc (Eng.) or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 6 or more years experience in an aircraft  engineering Environment, with 4 years directly related experience with aircraft.
  • Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable.
  • Possess knowledge of rotary wing aircraft airframe systems and components, including but not limited to aircraft structures, fuel systems, flight control systems and dynamic components.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication.
  • Ability to manage projects and tasks.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards, and military aircraft modification process desirable.
  • Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization and in outside agencies.
  • Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently when required.
  • Must possess an ability to logically assimilate information and identify related casual factors.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances
