We are currently seeking to add an Engineering Specialist to our team.
Position Overview:
To plan, manage and implement tasks in support of the Aircraft Structural Integrity Program (ASIP) for various fixed wing and/or rotary wing fleets.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Determine top-level ASI program and task requirements.
- Estimate, plan and manage implementation of tasks in support of aircraft Structural Condition Monitoring (SCM), including performing assessments of previously installed repairs.
- Estimate, plan and manage implementation of tasks in support of aircraft Individual Aircraft Tracking (IAT) and Structural Usage Monitoring (SUM).
- Perform assessments and analyses in support of the Structurally Significant Item (SSI) process and identification of corrosion prone areas.
- Prepare and/or review engineering deliverables prior to formal release.
- Provide direction, mentoring and supervision to more junior engineers.
- Conduct and review analyses of structural repairs, as required.
- Conduct and review vibration analyses, as required.
- Conduct and review Durability and Damage Tolerance Analyses (D/DTA), as required.
- Modify/update Finite Element Models (FEM) using MSC Nastran, as required.
- Provide support to various discrete tasks, as required.
- Other duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- B. Eng. in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 6+ years experience in an engineering environment preferably dealing with aircraft. Recent (within 2 yrs) applicable relevant experience is desirable.
- Eligible for membership in, or member in good standing of, the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia (APENS) or equivalent.
- Strong oral, presentation, technical writing and project management skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office and MS Windows environments and application of computer programming in engineering.
- Knowledge of one, several or all of the following will be considered an asset: stress analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, FEM software (MSC Nastran, Patran), aircraft manufacturers drawing systems, strain gauges and/or vibration monitoring equipment and systems, corrosion control in aircraft materials, collection, reduction, analysis and trending of engineering data, statistical analysis.
- Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Works Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and Transport Canada security clearances
