Ignition became the first offshore MSP in the world when it began operations in 2000. Ignition's Halifax office now seeks a seasoned 3rd Level System Engineer for support of its international client base.
This opportunity best suits professional IT engineers having the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience with Microsoft centric technologies. The successful candidate will engage in all levels of planning, implementing, designing, analyzing, maintaining, and technical support for a wide range of global firms within various Industries such as Investment, Financial, Insurance and IT consultancy organizations.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Analyzes and resolves technical problems at the desktop and server level for established networks.
- Plan, test, recommend, and implement network, file server and workstation hardware and software.
- Provides qualitative network documentation, training, and guidance to corporate clients.
- Serve as technical specialist in network problems and emergencies; assist in troubleshooting and resolution of network production problems.
- Investigate alternatives and research development of strategic implementations of network components; recommend network solutions for short-, medium-, and long-range network projects.
- Provide feedback and direction on appropriate methodologies or process that could benefit Ignition or its customers, whether by better cost efficiencies, adoption of new technology, risk mitigation strategies etc
- Provide timely, courteous and conscientious customer service to end customers
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Be available to travel for up to 3 weeks at a time multiple times a year.
Technical Requirements:
The position requires current "hands-on" skills/experience and must be demonstrable in a technical interview. Candidates must meet a majority of the following requirements:
- Must be willing to live and work in Halifax, NS
- Must have a minimum of 3 years experience as a senior network engineer
- Possess University degree or equivalent work experience in senior role
- Expert knowledge in Microsoft SQL 200x
- Basic ASP development knowledge
- Superior knowledge of Microsoft technologies, such as Clustering, Exchange 200x, SQL 200x, IIS, ISA and related 3rd party applications, e.g. anti-spam/virus/spyware and backup
- Excellent command of the English language written and spoken,
- Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint a significant plus
