The City of Saint John, a city of 68,000 residents (CMA 122,000) and located on the Bay of Fundy, has added three new planners to its team and is seeking one more planning professional to help position the City for an exciting period of transformation and growth.
Senior Planner Position:
Reporting to the Commissioner of Planning and Development Services, the Senior Planner will assume a lead role in Saint John's current planning process. It is expected that the incumbent will assume responsibility for the review of major development projects from project initiation through to execution. Success in this role will require the development of strong working relationships with key community stakeholders including the development community, citizens, the Planning Advisory Committee and Common Council.
The Senior Planner will also have the opportunity to play a key role in future policy projects including the implementation of a neighbourhood planning program and the development of a new municipal plan for Saint John; an initiative which is now underway.
Candidates must possess a university degree in planning or a related discipline, a minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience (preferably in municipal government), and membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners. Knowledge of municipal legislation and relevant statues and skills in urban design are considered strong assets.
