Chef de Partie
Location: Saint John

Hilton Saint John is this city's only 4 ½ star hotel. We are located in the downtown core overlooking the Saint John harbour.  Hilton Saint John offers a fun and dynamic work environment where striving to exceed our guests' expectations is of utmost importance.

Position Description:   
As Chef de Partie your main duty will be to supervise and instruct the line Cooks and oversee food production for both banquet and outlet service.  You will be expected to work on the line preparing and cooking food.  You will be able to step in and assist when business volumes dictate.  This is an excellent opportunity for a team player who wants to experience a formal kitchen, learn a variety of stations and flourish in a truly international cooking atmosphere.

Job Requirements:
 
The right person for our team has: 

  • Red Seal Certification, Journeyman Papers or international equivalent and/or at minimum, five year's experience in this or a similar role;
  • Experience on both large banquet and restaurant lines;
  • The ability to work simultaneously on multiple menus;
  • worked on all areas of the kitchen line;
  • North American experience; international experience would be an asset;
  • experience in a Hilton kitchen would be an asset;
  • experience with food/ labour costing and wastage an asset;
  • You have the ability to prioritize work quickly and work well under pressure. 
  • You are approachable, will share your information, knowledge and expertise with the team;
  • You are self-motivated and able to work productively with minimal supervision. 
  • You also demonstrate good decision making on your own initiative while recognizing when consultation is necessary.  This will be coupled with a good balance of control with encouragement, coaching and motivation.

Work Schedule: Shifts will vary
Must be available to work days, evenings, holidays, and weekends.

Rate of Pay:   To be negotiated according to level of experience.
