Position Summary: 

Reporting to the Manager of Primary Health Care, the Nurse Practitioner will work as a member of the Cumberland South Rural Practice Network. The Network has three sites and consists of three Nurse Practitioners, three Physicians and full time administrative support for each site. This position is based at the River Hebert site. The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with the other network team members to provide a range of primary care services encompassing health promotion, injury and illness prevention, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of commonly encountered health problems and injuries, monitoring of stable chronic health problems, and community development and advocacy.  These services are provided within a holistic, client-centered care framework.

Qualifications:

  • Registered or eligible to register with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia in an active-practicing status, with a license to practice as a PHC Nurse Practitioner.
  • Minimum of two years experience as a primary care nurse practitioner preferred, or a minimum of three years nursing experience in a primary care setting providing direct patient/client care is required.
  • Superior clinical skills required.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative practice environment.
  • Demonstrated high degree of judgment, initiative and autonomous decision making required.
  • Strong leadership/organizational skills are required.
  • Computer skills are essential.
  • An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered for this position.
